The Rape of Recy Taylor

The Rape of Recy Taylor

20th TDF: Greek premiere

Very few figures have been as influential as Recy Taylor in the African American Civil Rights Movement. The abduction and brutal rape of this Black woman by six white men back in the 1940s, her decision to raise her voice against her attackers, and the miscarriage of justice are re-touched upon with assertiveness and sensitivity, revealing how painfully topical is this story. Interviews with people from her environment alter with race films snippets in a new anthem of emancipation.
