Another unique array of characters in the director’s oeuvre comprises portraits of grocers, butchers, hairdressers, humble shop owners in Varda’s neighborhood around rue Daguerres – and reminds us why Louis Daguerre’s invention (an early form of photography) changed the route of human thought, immortalizing the lives that are lost in oblivion.
