Dafne

Dafne

60th TIFF: Greek Premiere

Her mother’s unexpected loss leaves Dafne, a young woman suffering from Down syndrome, and her father in a state of shock. Soon enough, the roles are reversed, and Dafne takes on nursing and heartening her father, who has a hard time dealing with his grief. A father-daughter trip in the Tuscan countryside will help both to draw strength from each other and come to terms with the dramatic changes that have taken place. A tale of selfless and undisputed companionship that avoids any high-pitched melodrama and cheesy sentimental gimmicks.
