Saint Frances

Saint Frances

60th TIFF: Greek Premiere

Bridget, aged 34, has no impressive achievements under her belt. She is devoid of maternal instincts and definitely not inclined in pursuing a career. Faced with an unplanned pregnancy, Bridget opts for abortion without blinking an eye, while accepting at the same time a nanny job for a posh lesbian couple. The evolving friendship with intuitive and witty six-year-old Frances gradually leads directionless Bridget to the path of self-respect. A touching comedy of elegant dramatic beats and multifaceted characters that tackles the aching issues of motherhood, family, and purpose in life, with a heartbreaking empathy.
