The Holy Family

La Sainte famille

60th TIFF: Greek Premiere

Jean, a renowned academic in the field of Anthropology, finds himself Minister of the Family, ironically enough at the very moment he feels helpless and at a loss before the trials and tribulations afflicting his own family. A subtle study on the conventions, misconducts, compromises and eccentricities of the upper reaches of the French bourgeoisie with such accuracy and elegance. A tender, ironic, sometimes melancholy glance at a swarm of contemporary Balzacian characters, torn between their desires, their perception of duty and the temptation to let life follow its course.
