Eva, adrift and confused, is about to turn 33 and her decision to spend the August holiday in Madrid rather than in a sea resort will result in a journey of self-reflection. We follow her through an emotional roller coaster of edifying revelations and unscheduled encounters that captures the subterranean vibe of daily city life. A highly immersive diary-film that nails the minor and fleeing – almost inaccessible – moments, in order to soothe down the fear and anxiety of growing up. A slowly paced mystical summer tale, which makes our hearts beat to its colorful tone.

Jonás Trueba

Spanish director, screenwriter and author Jonás Trueba, son of the renowned director Fernando Trueba, carried out his feature debut with the film Every Song Is About Me, earning a nomination for the Goya Award for Best New Director. The film The August Virgin, the fifth installment in his feature filmography, celebrated its world premiere at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
