1978, Michigan USA. Part-native American teenage girl Margo lives with her father after her mother has decided to up sticks and abandon their family. One night, a traumatizing incident will detonate a series of dramatic events that will lead to her father’s death. Desperate and stranded, Margo embarks on a quest down the Stark River, to discover the whereabouts of her mother, seeking a rudimentary sense of belonging. A touching coming-of-age tale that sets out to carve hope out of hopelessness, set against a backdrop of humming forest lullabies and enchanting river murmurs.

Haroula Rose

Haroula Rose is a Chicago-born and LA-based film director, producer and musician. Her debut feature Once Upon a River was highlighted as “one of the most anticipated films of 2019” by Filmmaker magazine. Her pilot Lost and Found had its world premiere at Tribeca Film Festival, was mentioned by the New York Times as not to be missed. As a musician, she has toured internationally, while her songs can be heard in many films, series, theater productions, and commercials.
