The Delinquents

Los Delincuentes

64th TIFF: Greek Premiere

An unassuming bank employee steals a substantial sum of money from the vault and enlists his trusted coworker to hide the cash until his release from prison when they intend to split it. After all, what’s the big deal about three years behind bars if neither of them ever has to work again? The plan seems solid, as long as the latter doesn't break during questioning. Or, as long as complications don't arise once love enters the equation. For Argentina's official nomination for the upcoming Oscar Award for International Film, praises have been sung from the very moment it made its debut at the Cannes Film Festival. However, everyone agrees that The Delinquents is by no means the typical heist film we’re accustomed to. In fact, it's so good that it might as well be illegal.
