Anna is a 30-year-old woman who works as a development consultant in “Third World” countries, specialized in irrigation. Her life seems blithe and predictable, until one day, in one of her regular, exotic visits for field work, she will find the body of a colleague who decided to end her life. From that point onwards, she will start observing her own life from a distance, discovering how alien her congenial people feel. A film about the ability of the distant to radically change the close and intimate, about observation and empathy – in other words, about the inherent power of cinema.
