Salamandra

Argentina, after the dictatorship. Alba, thirty years old, has just got out of prison and comes to get her son Inti. They don’t know each other. Alba takes Inti to El Bolson, a lost valley in Patagonia where renegades from all corners of the world find refuge. At the home of the deceased Dr Schulz, day and night, in an endless party, hippies, a collection of insects and a multitude of wandering animals gather among the “enlightened”. At the foot of the Andes, the children of the peasants have fun demolishing a school under construction and attacking the houses of newcomers. Between these two rough worlds, Alba and Inti try to build a new life. Alba hanging on to her dreams, Inti to his survival kit.

Pablo Aguero

He was born in 1977. He shoots all his films at El Bolson, where he grew up. He first directed at the age of 15, "Mas alla de las puertas" (First Prize at the Patagonia Art Biennale), followed by "Far from the Sun" (Best Short Prize at the 2005 Buenos Aires Bafici Festival and the Award of the Cork Festival 2005) and also "First Snow", short which prefigures "Salamandra", Jury Prize (Official Competition) Cannes IFF 2006 and First Prize Gijon Festival 2006. "Salamandra", his first feature film, screened at the “Director’s Forthnight” at the Cannes IFF 2008.
