Die Kinder der Toten

Die Kinder der Toten

60th TIFF: Greek Premiere

In her novel The Children of the Dead, Elfriede Jelinek allows the deceased to rise again – even those with swastikas and yellow stars usually easily and gladly forgotten by official history logbooks. Using amateur actors and Super 8 film in the original Styrian settings, the directorial duo from the Nature Theater of Oklahoma created a blend of literature, performance and cinema, where the grotesque and the ridiculous triumph, allowing the viewer to be immersed in the universe of the text, while escaping from its whirlpool at the same time.
