Early Monthly Segments

Early Monthly Segments

Between 1967 and 1970, I filmed brief monthly segments or exercises while making a series of longer films, that were between a half hour and an hour… My basic impulse in the Early Monthly Segments was to discover a way of thinking with the 16mm Bolex film camera and colour reversal film, and I used whatever details from my surroundings that were helpful. In that sense, they were conceived more as brief “essays” rather than as a diary. (Robert Beavers)
