The Bare Necessity

Perdrix

60th TIFF: Greek Premiere

Pierre is the gendarmerie captain of a tiny town, a 37-year-old bachelor who has not yet left the family house. Juliette is an intrepid woman who has her car stolen by a nudist belonging to a local revolutionary group seeking to eradicate all “superfluous” mentalities. When spirited Juliette bursts in to file a complaint, it’s like an electric shock to Pierre’s bleak routine – skirmishes between the two have the distinctive flavor of instinctive attraction. A burlesque-like comedy that navigates through the minor, yet sublime, adventures of two opposite characters caught in the most enchanting of spells: love.
