Female Trouble

Teenager Dawn Davenport is launched on a life of crime and adventure when she is refused a pair of shoes for Christmas. The result is hitchhiking, robbery, pregnancy (Divine also plays the baby’s father!), face disfigurement due to an acid attack, modeling as a grotesque icon, murders and a death sentence via electric chair, that is a typical chain of events for a John Waters’ film. A defiantly crude extravaganza that smashes all behavior codes, through delirious parodies of classic Hollywood genres. A feast of violence and frivolity that dynamites conventional definitions of beauty and defies the prudery status quo.
