Love According to Dalva

63rd TIFF: Greek Premiere

At a time of escalating domestic violence against women and girls, Love according to Dalva explores the complex web of power and control that enables such abuse. Dalva, 12, lives alone with her father. When the police storms into their home and takes her into foster care, she gradually comes to understand that the love she shared with her father was not what she thought. With the help of her new roommate Samia and social worker Jayden, Dalva will learn to become a child again. In this poignant debut feature, Emmanuelle Nicot explores the ramifications of abuse during the fragile period of childhood with deep sensitivity and uncompromising grace, in a hopeful journey toward healing.
