Reza Mirkarimi
Born in 1967 in Tehran, he graduated from the Fine Arts University in Graphic Arts. His cinema activities began in 1987 with the short film For Him (16mm). He went on to make other shorts before beginning his TV series, The Adventures of Mrs Aziz and Hemmat School Kids, aimed at a young audience. His first feature, The Child and the Soldier won several national and international awards and was released in France in 2001. In 2000 he directed Under the Moonlight, a film dealing with social and religious issues which attracted the attention of international reviewers and won the Critics' Week Grand Prize at Cannes 2001.
