Black Film

Zilnik picks up ten homeless people (who do not exist, according to official data) from the streets of Novi Sad one night and takes them home with him. While they stay in the two-room flat where he lives with his wife and little daughter, Zilnik asks passersby on the street how the problem can be solved. He speaks to social workers, ordinary people. He even addresses policemen. They all close their eyes to the problem.“It is a film about the class structure of Yugoslavian society, but also about the abuse of the declasse for film purposes; it shows how the filmmaker exploits social hardship." (Z. Z.) The final intertitle pithily expresses the dilemma: “Film – Weapon or Shit”
