Close Relations

An intimate exploration of Ukrainian society after the Maidan revolution, as mirrored within the director’s own family, whose members found themselves on different sides of barricades, just like all the citizens of this single country. The film searches for the reasons of the conflict: its main narrative takes place in the here and now, starting with the turning point of ex-president Victor Yanukovych’s flight to Russia, but it is driven by a strong historical undercurrent, that will carry information about the Russian-Ukrainian conflict’s deep roots in centuries of close ties between the two countries.
