On the dawn of her 60th birthday, Lara is one step from giving in to despair, but is literally saved by the bell. On the same evening, her son, a virtuoso pianist, holds his first major concert, but Lara’s name hasn’t made it to the guest list. Nevertheless, she buys all remaining tickets and hands them over to her acquaintances – friendship is unknown territory – as a pressure valve for the pride she stubbornly refuses to express overtly. A caring portrait of a damaged woman, which gradually allows warmth to emerge under the resentful surface.

Jan-Ole Gerster
Jan Ole Gerster is a graduate of the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB), where he majored in Screenwriting and Directing. His debut film Oh Boy premiered at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and became a surprise box-office hit, while winning numerous national and international awards. His sophomore feature Lara also celebrated its world premiere at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival.
