Leros, Freedom Is Curative

This documentary is a travelogue through the space and time that encompasses the Leros State Psychiatric Hospital. It is a journey through the 45 years of the hospital’s operation and, at the same time, it is a journey into the souls of the patients, as well as the people who worked in this tormented place.

Andreas Loukakos

He was born in Athens in 1978. He studied architecture at the University of Greenwich and film and video at the University of Westminster. Αpart from his documentary work, he worked for TV and created video art pieces for dance and music shows. The award-winning documentary Leros, Freedom Is Curative was his final year project for the university and his first documentary.
