25th TiDF: International Premiere

In this mesmerizing documentary about the sublime and senseless passion felt by a fistful of men for the sea, a place of life and death, we travel at the end of the world only to return to the deepest abyss of our psyche. Day in, day out, three men bearing the burden of ancestral pain take on the southern ocean and its legends. They leave their families and brave the cold and the storms to go and meet the isolated fishermen in the infamous Cape Horn islands – the southernmost headland of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago in southern Chile. Reminiscent of Herman Melville’s greatest characters, the sailors spend long periods of their lives in a territory, where the swell, the waves, the ebb, and flow numb their sorrow, redirecting their attention from their existential void to the quest for survival. Besides, what is worse, their demise is more likely to happen on land...
