When president of Peru Alan Garcia attempts to extract oil and minerals from untouched Amazonian land with the hopes of elevating his country’s economic prosperity, he is met with fierce opposition led by indigenous leader Alberto Pizango. These first-time directors take us directly into the line of fire of this titanic clash, in an immersive tour de force that captures all angles of the conflict between the prospect of financial self-determination and the defense of ancestral land, which quickly escalates from a heated war of words to one of deadly violence.
