Whose Country?

Spanning the period from the outbreak of the Egyptian revolution in 2011 until the ouster of President Morsi three years later, Whose Country? is a first-person account of the filmmaker’s interactions with an Egyptian policeman, Abou H, who experienced the brutality and violence of his superiors towards civilians just after the revolution. Through verite footage and one-on-one interviews, and though torn between his convictions and the risk of losing his job, Abou H reveals the ways in which the security forces abused their role in society. At the same time, the director grapples with issues of guilt and morality and the memory of his father, a former criminal investigator.
