My Grandpa Is an Alien

Moj dida je pao s Marsa

60th TIFF: Greek Premiere

Former Yugoslavia, in the 80s. A little girl is playing “Space Invaders” on a Commodore 64 while listening to a pop megahit, when a spaceship crashes in her backyard. Thirty years later, 11-year-old Una, a tomboy with a vocation for mechanics, passed on by her eccentric yet endearing granddad, is living on the very same hill. When her grandpa gets abducted by aliens, she will team up with an extraterrestrial tiny robot left behind by the kidnappers, in a frenetic rescue-repatriation mission. A Spielberg-style adventure that elegantly combines tasteful CGI and charming old-school effects, conveying messages of hope, humanness, and humility.
