The film is the portrait of Hera, a 35-year-old woman. Her home is her world, and a world of magic, and her loneliness is filled with objects. She forgets herself in her daily routine and gets tangled in the universe of her mind. Her difficulty to cope with social gender norms and an awkward encounter with a jeweler lead her to buy a wedding ring. The ring gives life to an imaginary relationship, fleeting like a dream. As the relationship comes to an end, Hera goes back to her everyday life. (Special Mention for Female Part - 43d Drama International Short Film Festival 2020)

Anthi Daoutaki

She is a visual artist and filmmaker. She works with various media: video, text and a wide array of objects. She studied Fine Arts at the Athens School of Fine Arts and Film Directing at the Metropolitan College in Athens. She creates installations, which function as peculiar diaries that explore the subjectivity of time and the essence of presence. The need to explain the world from a feminine point of view is the focal point in her work. She was a resident at the University of Quebec (Canada) and participated in several workshops and group exhibitions in Greece and Europe: Gallery R3 (Canada), Melina Merkouri (Hydra), Artscape (Athens), Projekt Galeria (Budapest) and Action Center Kodra (Thessaloniki). She was a nominee for the best foreign video in the Tent Academy Awards (Rotterdam) and winner of the 2019 Stavros Niarchos prize "Artworks". She lives and works in Athens. As if underwater is her first short film.
