Fireflies

Luciérnagas

60th TIFF: Greek Premiere

Ramin is a young Iranian homosexual forced to live in the limbo of self-exile, so as to escape persecution in his country. When he hid in a cargo ship leaving Turkey, he never expected to arrive in Veracruz, Mexico, so far from anything familiar. Now entrapped in this decadent tropical port city, he begins to realize that he has no choice but to let go of his past. His nostalgia and melancholy are cured through new friendships and the appearance of love that slowly allow him to rediscover his own identity.
