La Chana

You only need two things to dance flamenco: rhythm and soul – and the documentary by Lucija Stojevic has plenty of both. This ecstatic portrait of the greatest star of the Andalusian dance, the Gypsy queen Antonia Santiago Amador, follows her decisive speps as she returns to the stage to give a final seated performance after a break of two decades. La Chana teaches us that even the most cruel and violent experienced can be exorcised through music. In this unique cinematic experience, the body might remember its wounds, but the unaged, untamed heart will keep luring it into a life choreography.
