Βάρβαρη χώρα

Κάθε περίοδος έχει το φασισμό της. Με την «αναλυτική» τους κάμερα, όπως την αποκαλούν, οι σκηνοθέτες κάνουν μια βουτιά στο (ευσχήμως) λησμονημένο παρελθόν της ιταλικής αποικιοκρατίας στην Αιθιοπία και προχωρούν σε μια διπλή ανάγνωση – των ίδιων των εικόνων και του πώς καταναλώθηκαν: εικόνες από στρατιωτικές ασκήσεις, μια γυμνόστηθη γυναίκα, η αντανάκλαση του Μουσολίνι στην Αφρική. Το αποτέλεσμα είναι μια ζωτικής σημασίας ταινία για την Ευρώπη, που αυτοκτόνησε δυο φορές στο παρελθόν με δύο παγκόσμιους πολέμους και τρομακτικές δικτατορίες, και βρίσκεται τώρα ενώπιον νέων δοκιμασιών.
