Road to La Paz

The best road movies are the ones where the spectators make their own journey, in parallel to that of the heroes. Road to La Paz tells the story of the journey of an elderly Muslim, who asks an “amateur taxi driver” to drive him, in his beat up Peugeot 505, from Buenos Aires to La Paz, from where he plans to travel to Mecca. The film covers thousands of miles on screen, while our “emotional speedometer”, as viewers, racks up a few miles of its own, as we watch this tender, heart-wrenching story.
