White People

Somewhere in present-day Sweden, Alex finds herself among a group of people that are transferred to an underground “prison,” waiting to be deported from the country. We don’t know where they’ll end up or why this is happening. Lisa Aschan’s second feature film – following She Monkeys which was screened at the 52nd Thessaloniki IFF – is set in a non-place and a non-time. Ambiguous and open to interpretation, it is a timely and incisive comment on power, force, and sovereign relations – issues that are absolutely relevant to contemporary Europe.
