When Jan listens to his grandmother whispering an old song on her deathbed, he senses that her horrifying past and her real identity are hidden between her words. In this enigmatic, magical meditation, Jan will travel from New York to Dersim to discover his emotional heritage, her history, and also the history of a whole region that strives to deal with its collective trauma.

Kazım Öz

Kazım Öz is an awarded director, scriptwriter and producer of Kurdish origin. He started to produce art with Kurdish theatre. In 1990s, he continued to work with Yapım 13 Production Company, which is affiliated to Mesopotamia Culture Center. In 1999 he shot his first short film Land, which was awarded in many film festivals. He shot his first feature film Fotoğraf in 2002.
