Anxiety

The film tells two parallel stories: the first is that of Orked, a young woman who is married to an older man named Arif. When Orked’s father suddenly has to be taken into hospital, a kind of sitcom develops there. Orked meets Alan, the brother of her first lover, and a friendship flourishes between them. The second story is about the muezzin Pak Bilal, who heads an institution of sorts and wants to help two prostitutes to build a new life. Two stories, two facets of today’s Malaysian family and religion.
