Demonic

Demonic

60th TIFF: Greek Premiere

A genre-binding documentary-horror short film that explores the so-called “Satanic Panic,” that erupted in the US in the 1980s, before spreading in a worldwide level. This widely-reported phenomenon, which vulgarly paraded through media, was fuelled by numerous allegations of satanic ritual abuse that were ultimately proven false. An innovative fusion of archival footage, spirited re-enactment and slick CGI that blurs all boundaries, demonstrating the malleability of human perception. A meditation on our deepest inner fears that does not rely on plain talking heads, heading out far beyond than the predictable “search for the truth” scheme.
