64th TIFF: Greek Premiere

A young psychotherapist is gradually trapped in the questionnaire she is asked to administer to her patient. Her younger brother, who is full of unreasonable demands for his upcoming birthday, gets involved in a situation he cannot manage. Her husband, who is worried about his health, listens to the strange love story of a colleague in the hospital. And an experienced detective interrogates a key witness during a funeral, trying to unravel a heinous case. Through four stories that will methodically take their time until they come together, the mainstay of the Romanian New Wave Cristi Puiu (Sieranevada, The Death of Mr. Lazarescu) returns to the pandemic year 2020 with a mosaic that proves resistant to all spectacular transitions from witty, wry humor –a trait rather unusual for the important style– to the darkest alleys of the human condition.
