Yedi Koule a Place of Remembrance

People visiting the former prison of Yedi Koule, located in the Old City of Thessaloniki, had to wear hats in order to stand out from the prisoners. Those who did not have their own hat borrowed one from the nearby cafe Aethrion. The film starts off from this historic detail and the memories of two former political prisoners and of the lady owner of the Aethrion cafe, to highlight the need for a struggle for freedom and democracy that continues to this day. The events are dramatized in a minimalist style, allowing space to the viewer’s imagination.
