The Girl with the Suitcases

It’s a hot summer morning in an Athens apartment. Mihalis, a failed thirty-something university student has come to Athens from his native Komotini and is staying at his cousin Takis’ place. Suddenly there’s a knock on the door and Patricia, an attractive American woman, appears carrying two huge suitcases. She seems desperate and asks to talk to Takis. Mihalis can’t communicate with her because he doesn’t speak English. However, he makes the mistake of feeling sorry for her and allows her to spend the night in the apartment.An erotic game begins between the two of them.After Patricia falls asleep, Mihalis goes through the suitcases and is shocked to discover their content… Next morning they are awoken by the persistent ringing of the doorbell. It’s the police....

Nikos Nikolaidis

Nikos Nikolaidis was born in Athens in 1939. He studied filmmaking and theater set designing. In 1960 he started to work as a first assistant to Vassilis Georgiadis and in 1962 he shot his first short film, Lacrimae Rerum. He made his official debut in 1975 with Euridice BA 2037 at the Thessaloniki Film Festival. He has worked in a recording company and has shot more than 200 commercials in over 20 years. He has published a collection of short stories and three novels, and has written, directed and produced all of his films. He is the only Greek director who has won five times the award for Best Director at the Thessaloniki Film Festival. He died in Athens in September 2007.
