The subject of plot twist as reversal also emerges from the organic dialogue of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival with the main theme of the 9th Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art of MOMus “everything must change. RIS9”, curated by independent curator and art historian Nadja Argyropoulou. This dialogue is given visual expression in the exhibition “Plot Twist (the science fiction change),” which serves as a prelude to the Biennale 9 and is part of the 66th Festival edition, and is realized with works by Ben Rivers, Errands group, Kostas Sfikas, curated by Nadja Argyropoulou and the Festival’s Artistic Director Orestis Andreadakis. With its intriguingly ambiguous title “everything must change. RIS9”, the 9th Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art aims to connect life and art in unexpected ways – through humor, ingenuity, and a spirit of joyful militancy that remains non-didactic yet alternatively pedagogical. The Biennale seeks to highlight works that critically engage with the present and help shape the future, all while actively envisioning a world of many worlds.
