ICDA MASTERCLASS: CASTING IN THE AGE OF TECHNOLOGY. FINDING THE SOUL OF A STORY

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1

11:00–12:30

Pavlos Zannas Theater

Casting is at the heart of a film’s nature and identity, shaping the way audiences connect to its story. It is a delicate art where countless elements combine – performance, presence, chemistry, intuition – each decision rippling across the creative process. As with every part of filmmaking, technology is rapidly transforming how casting directors work, from databases to AI tools. Yet at its core, casting remains a uniquely human craft: seeing not only who an actor is, but who they might become in a role. This panel explores how to preserve that essence in cinema’s new era.

Speakers: Tanjia Grunwald, Yngvill Kolset Haga, Lucinda Syson, David Zitzlsperger (Filmmakers Europe)

The masterclass will be conducted in English with simultaneous interpretation into Greek.

Moderator: Alexandros Diakosavvas, journalist
