BOOK PRESENTATION: CINEMA THROUGH A DIFFERENT GAZE
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8
12:00

The book, based on Evangelia Liakou’s doctoral dissertation and published by Neaniko Plano, explores audio description techniques that enhance accessibility for individuals with visual impairments. Drawing on extensive research, the author provides practical guidelines to ensure the quality and effectiveness of audio description in real-world applications. Beyond its academic value and relevance for professionals in audiovisual translation, the book stems from a broader commitment to social equality – advocating for equal access to education, information, and entertainment for all members of society.
Speakers: Evangelia Liakou, author of the book, Maria Tsigkou, Associate Professor of Linguistics and Translation, Chair of the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation, and Interpreting at the Ionian University, Katerina Zampeli, Translator, Director of the Translation/Subtitling Department of Neaniko Plano.
