An original exhibition transforms the building of the Port Guardhouse into an audiovisual capsule enclosing the obsessions, the anthropogeography, and the symbols that made Takis Kanellopoulos one of the most iconic figures of Greek cinema. The Thessaloniki International Film Festival opens the door onto his distinctive universe, reintroducing us to his films, the Macedonian hinterland as he exalted it in his work, the eclectic musical compositions of his films, and his short stories through readings by popular actors, directors, and writers.
Alongside the exhibition, the tribute is accompanied by discussions after each screening with the participation of Takis Kanellopoulos’s collaborators and students of his work. His actor-muses Alexandra Ladikou and Emilia Ipsilanti, filmmakers Markos Holevas, Zacharias Mavroeidis, and Marios P. Papageorgiou, Associate Professor in Film History and Kanellopoulos’s scholar Panayiota Mini, musician Manolis Kaleas, and Kanellopoulos’s collaborators Agis Pergantis and Dimitris I. Brouhos converse with the public.
