The Thessaloniki International Film Festival, in collaboration with production and distribution company Finos Film, this year will honor 36 iconic actors and actresses who starred in many of the most defining moments of the 1960s Greek cinema. The renowned honorees will be awarded for their overall contribution to Greek cinema and culture as part of a special event that will take place on Monday November 3rd, within the framework of the Festival’s 66th edition (October 30th-November 9th, 2025).
We will have the chance to welcome to the Olympion stage legendary names of Greek cinema, such as Betty Arvaniti, Vasilis Kailas, Dimitris Kallivokas, Giorgos Konstantinou, Chloe Liaskou, Betty Livanou, Sotiros Tzevelekos, Emilia Ypsilanti, and Anna Fonsou. The event will be presented by the President of the Festival’s Board of Directors, actor Akis Sakellariou, and his fellow actor Ieroklis Michaelidis, who will converse with the beloved stars on their fascinating journey in cinema, as well as the unseen aspects of their life as artists. We’re up for an emotionally charged reunion destined to go down in history!
At the same time, the Festival will screen a video tribute where many of the unparalleled actors and actresses from the golden era of Greek cinema will share with the audience memories, stories and faces from their glorious career. Within the context of this homage we will be given the opportunity to enjoy unforgettable moments featuring not only the actors and actresses who will step on the Olympion stage, but an immense list of of renowned stars of Greek acting, such as Angelos Antonopoulos, Eleni Anousaki, Nora Valsami, Giannis Vogiatzis, Vagelis Voulgaridis, Martha Vourtsi, Melpo Zarokosta, Kaiti Improchori, Maria Ioannidou, Tonia Kaziani, Xenia Kalogeropoulou, Lakis Komninos, Maro Kontou, Anna Kyriakou, Alexandra Ladikou, Popi Lazou, Stefanos Linaios, Christos Nomikos, Giorgos Pantzas, Christos Politis, Kostas Prekas, Eleni Prokopiou, Elsa Rizou, Tzeni Roussea, Zozo Sapountzaki, Nikos Tsoukas and Elli Fotiou.
This grand celebration of Greek cinema further strengthens the solid collaboration between the Thessaloniki International Film Festival and Finos Film, the production company that defined the entire era of Greek cinema that marked the heyday of the honored artists.
