The Good Postman

A small Bulgarian village by the Turkish border has found itself in the middle of a European crisis, as at night asylum seekers sneak into the country. Ivan, the local postman, has a vision. He decides to run for mayor and revive the dying village by welcoming refugees. His opponents want to close down the border and bring back communism. As the election campaign proceeds, Ivan soon learns that while good intentions are not enough, even the smallest deeds matter. A low-key lesson on the politics of hospitality, made with care, with the most simple ingredients, regarding the most complicated issue of our times.
