Sea Tomorrow

Many contemporary maps figure the Aral Sea just like in 1960, when it was still among the four largest lakes on the planet, nearly twice as large as Switzerland. However, when a young director from Kazakhstan decided to travel to this region, she encountered nothing but immense dunes, salt deserts, cemetaries of shipwrecks. In the imprint of one the biggest ecological disasters of our age, we partake in the collective vision of a group of people – fishermen, farmers, biologists, and even a few pirates – who work relentlessly, believing that the sea can rise again, as if they were the last survivors on Earth.
