China’s Van Goghs

Zhao is one of the hundreds of self-taught painters living in the poor village of Dafen in China and making a living by selling famous copies of wellknown paintings to the West. While Vincent Van Gogh managed to sell only one painting in his life, Zhao’s family has sold over 90,000 replicas. After struggling and saving, Zhao fulfils his dream: He travels to Amsterdam to come face to face with his idol’s masterpieces. There, the view of the touristic exploitation of his work might discourage him, but the experience of art will lead him to discover the true meaning of creation...
