Our homeland is not only our childhood, but also a place that is always sunny. The smells, colors, textures, and sounds of a summer that a bourgeois family spends in their cottage house somewhere in 70s Germany is reconstructed in a nuanced tableau vivant, which activates all of our senses. Focusing on the most discreet details, the director describes the mechanism of memory, which at times sanitizes and at times dismisses the instincts and misdemeanors of this microcosm, as they distend due to summer slump.

Sonja Maria Kröner
Sonja Maria Kröner was born in 1979 in Munich, Germany. She first studied Literature and Philosophy at LMU Munich and later Screenwriting and Film Directing at HFF Munich. In 2009 she won a scholarship to realise her Media Art Installation “Six Doors” – a peepshow about six women in six different stages of life – which was later exhibited at Munich's renowned Museum for Modern Art Haus der Kunst. With her work she tries to explore the layer underneath human coexistence: what it is that constitutes life and makes human beings human.
