GREEK COMPETITION SECTION

The 1st Prize of the 5th Thessaloniki Documentary Section “Images of the 21st Century”, which is accompanied by a cash prize of 12.000€ is awarded ex aequo to:

“Men at Sea” by Katerina Patroni   and

“Are there any lions in Greece?” by Irina Boiko

The 2nd Prize of the 5th Thessaloniki Documentary Section “Images of the 21st Century”, which is accompanied by a cash prize of 6.000€ is awarded to:

“They tell me not to love you –The songs of Smyrna, Constantinople” by Yorgos C. Zervas

The 3rd Prize of the 5th Thessaloniki Documentary Section “Images of the 21st Century”, which is accompanied by a cash prize of 3.000€ is awarded to:

Freddy” by Theodoros Kalesis

The Jury consisting of * Lakis Papastathis, Filmmaker * Penny Panayotopoulou, Filmmaker * Stelios Kouloglou, Journalist * Miltos Papanikolaou, University Professor * Nikos Yanopoulos, Production Manager would like to thank the Thessaloniki audience, the Greek and foreign directors, the film critics, the producers and all of those who attended the festival.

HONOURABLE MENTION

Honourable mention is given ex aequo to:

“Andreas Embirikos” by Tasos Psarras and “Earthquake” by Yuri Averoff because they rely on unfamiliar motion pictures of the past, which enrich our perspective, accentuate our feelings of history and pave the way for the pursuit of similar private or public facts that could shine a new light on the history of modern Greece”.

Honourable mention is given to the film:

“The sponge diver’s dance” by Vassilis Vassiliadis for the very promising beginning of a new documentary filmmaker”.

DEWAR’S AUDIENCE AWARD

The Dewar’s Audience Award which is accompanied by a cash prize of 3.000€ goes to the film:

“Nine Good Teeth” by Αlex Halpern
