Yannis Dalianidis

Yannis Dalianidis was born and raised in Thessaloniki to foster parents. He studied dance in Vienna, where he appeared in dance performances from the age of nine. Upon his return to Greece, he worked as a dancer in theaters and vaudevilles, while simultaneously choreographing dances for low-budget films. In 1958, Dimis Dadiras, director of the film Happy Bums, entrusted him to direct the entire musical part of the film. In the same year, he wrote his first script for the film She’s a Lunatic, starring the young Jenny Karezi. One year later, he directed the film I Mousitsa with Aliki Vougiouklaki, followed by the film Laos and Kolonaki. In 1961, he began his collaboration with Finos Film, with the film The Decline. In total, he directed more than 60 films in most of which he wrote the screenplay himself. Among them are the films Law 4000, Vertigo, Something hot, Girls in Kisses, Mermaids and Rascals, A Lady in Sirtaki Dance, Marijuana Stop! From the 1970s, he also made a strong entrance into the realm of television, directing series that left a lasting impact.
