Hitler’s Bodyguard

Rochus Misch lives alone in a Berlin suburb. he spends most of his time at home, tending his plants. At least once a week he visits the location of Hitler’s bunker in order to meet with tourists and school children and tell them his story. Today, at the age of 91, Rochus Misch is the last survivor of Hitler’s entourage. He claims that he wasn’t a member of the Nazi youth, that he wasn’t interested in politics, and that he joined the SS as a way to find employment in the public sector. Sixty-five years after the end of World War II, the bunker’s radio operator and a member of Adolph Hhitler’s personal guard still believes that the murderous dictator “wasn’t a monster but just an ordinary man.”
