Toni Erdmann

She was born in 1976 in Karlsruhe. From 1998 until 2004 she studied producing and directing at the Hochschule fur Fernsehen und Film in Munich. She directed her first short film, Ebene 9, in 2000. The film was shown that same year at the film festival in Hof and went on to screen at various film festivals. Her feature film debut, The Forest for the Trees, which was also her graduation film, received invitations to numerous international film festivals, was nominated for the German Film Award, and won many awards around the world. Everyone Else, her second feature film, also won prestigious awards at various international film festivals. Together with her producing partner, Janine Jackowski, she produced the award-winning film of her classmate Sonja Heiss, Hotel Very Welcome.
