The first part of the publication, edited by Michel Demopoulos and Antonis Kioukas, includes an introductory text on the filmed and imaginary city by Michel Demopoulos, texts on the relationship between the city and cinema by Jean-Louis Comolli, Marc Auge, Alexis Dermetzoglou, and reviews on 16 emblematic films, where the city -real or imaginary- is captured (from The Belly of an Architect and Chungking Express to Playtime, Metropolis and The Element of Crime). In the second part, titled “Architecture Exhibition/Video art”, we find texts by Sasa Lada, Lois Papadopoulos, Rea Walldén, photographs from the exhibition “The Time of Space” and snapshots from the video art exhibition “The City Looks”. The third part includes introductory texts by Prodromos Nikiforidis, Yorgos Simeoforidis, Antoinetta Angelidi, Petros Martinidis, Thanasis Moutsopoulos, Yorgos Tzirtzilakis and Ferruccio Giromini. The publication closes with the exhibition of illustration by Italian artists on the exhibitions on the “Cities of the Future”. The remarkable photographic depiction of drawings and graphics, the rich illustration and the quality of the texts make this catalogue a collectible piece. The publication was compiled on the occasion of the tribute, which was held in May 2000, in Thessaloniki, as part of the events of Thessaloniki International Film Festival, in collaboration with the Technical Chamber of Greece-Section of Central Macedonia and the Architecture Faculty of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
